Wow, so it’s been awhile huh?

With final exams and the holidays I just never really had time to blog (aka I just wanted to be lazy and sleep a lot) 😉

Anyways, so what have I been up to the past month or so??

Well, if you recall my last post was about Frozen, Disney’s newest animated movie. And well it’s still basically my life. Really, I can’t tell you enough how much I LOVE this movie!!!!!! So far I’ve seen it 7 times…yes, 7. And I’m actually going with all my roommates tonight to see it again as two of them have not seen it yet ( I know, how am I friends with them right?!?) haha

To prove how much I love this movie, here’s a picture of my bed. Yep, I am a 20, almost 21, year old college student and I have no shame.

I also ran my 8k!! It was pretty tough but I met all my goals!! I didn’t walk, finished in under an hour (about 50 minutes to be exact), and I didn’t barf at the finish line. haha I’ll be honest though the last 2 miles or so I really started to feel horrible and nauseous.

So after feeling that way just running 5 miles what did I do?? I signed up for a 1/2 MARATHON!!!!!

Yes, I am insane.  I’m running it with my really good friend Em  and I’m a little less nervous because she’s done 2 half marathons before so she’s a pro! I’m still nervous about training though, it’s A LOT of running :/ Plus I’m just worried about being nauseous too.  I find when I run long distances I get very very nauseous. Anyone have any tips to help with this??

But I also got new running shoes for Christmas so that’ll hopefully help with not being in pain like I was with my old shoes.  I got the Brooks Adrenalines, at least I think that’s the model?? I love them because they fit really well and have great arch support which is what I need!

Other than that I had a pretty relaxing Christmas break.  My dad and I went to Christmas Town on Christmas Eve which was a lot of fun! They have the best hot chocolate there and the lights are just so gorgeous!

I also slept a lot, went shopping with my mom a lot (why does spending money have to be so fun??), and ate a lot haha.  It’s good to be back at school but I’m already missing my puppies!! Hopefully I’ll get to see them soon 🙂

Copper waiting for Santa to come

Copper waiting for Santa to come

I really can’t believe it’s already second semester of my junior year, and I can actually say that I graduate college NEXT year!!!! Holy cow where did the time go???

Taking it easy.

Sorry for the lack of posts. After last week, I’ve just been taking it easy since I have almost no work due or tests this week. It’s been a while since I’ve had a week like this!!

Anyways did you have a good Halloween?? Mine stunk because of all the tests/quizzes and the speech I had the next day.  So Halloween night I just watched Scandal and drank wine with my roommates which was nice after a stressful week.

notice my Jack Skellington nails?? They took forever and my left hand at least turned out okay, the right…not so much.

My most exciting news I have to share is that I signed up for the Christmas Town Dash 8k!!! I haven’t done a race since my freshman year, and that was only a 5k! I’m pretty nervous but also really excited.  The course actually goes through Busch Gardens which is awesome.  Ever since I got a season pass to BGW I’ve been going probably 20 times a year. I pretty much know the place like the back of my hand! The only downside to running through the park is that it is VERY hilly.  When they built the park they built it with the natural hills that were on the land and didn’t level anything. So…that’s gonna be great. 😉

So in training for the 8k ( yes I have to train for it, I’m not a crazy awesome runner like most people who can just whip out 10 or more miles in a day!) I’ve been trying to up my mileage each week. It’s only 5 miles which isn’t too scary, but it’s definitely a challenge for me.  I started out by going to 2 miles, then 3, and today I actually ran 4! I felt like I wanted to die. But I ran 4! This is on a treadmill though so I know I need to start practicing running outside more.  The only thing is my school is in a not so nice city and honestly running around the neighborhoods here freaks me out a little :/ Oh well, I’ll figure out a way!

Other than that this week has been pretty chill. My awesome friend Em and I went to Chipotle for lunch yesterday and scored some great deals at Target!

The cardigans were only about $5 each and the dress was $7.50!! Gotta love Target’s 70% off racks

I also bought this flavor of Kevita at the Fresh Market a few days ago.  I’d seen it on some blogs and it sounded SO good! Well….it wasn’t. Man it tastes horrible! I hate when that happens, there goes $3 down the drain 😦

And last but not least, now that it’s November…Frozen comes out this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m SUPER excited for this movie if you couldn’t tell.  It comes out on the 27th and I’m already counting down the days! 🙂

Are you excited for Frozen to come out too?

That’s all for now, have a great rest of the week!

The race to Fall Break.

Hey there!

I haven’t posted since last week because I’ve been SWAMPED with work.  It’s midterms week and holy cow this is the worst one ever.  I had a test last week, 3 tests this week, and a 4-7 page paper due.  So needless to say I’ve been drowned in work :/ Gotta love college right?

Anyways, tomorrow I get to leave early to head home since my only class was cancelled! I’m excited to go home and see my dogs, because let’s be real I treat them like they’re my siblings, maybe even my kids (if I had kids haha)….Either way, it’s scary how obsessed I am with my dogs. #singlegirlprobs

So here are just some random things from the past week or so that I’ve been up to:

<3 <3 <3

My friend Em and I went to Dairy Queen to get our first Pumpkin Pie blizzards of the season!!! These are literally the best things to ever exist on the planet. They’re sooooooooo good!

20131017-113930.jpgI know it’s kinda hard to see, but I ran 2 miles on the treadmill this past weekend!! I was really proud of myself because after running a lot freshman year, I kinda scaled back a bit and got it in my head that I couldn’t run for more than 10 minutes.  I always felt so tired and pretty much convinced myself that running wasn’t for me, even though I’d ran a 5k, and then 4 miles in the past two years! Anyways, my awesome roommate Laney gave me good advice that it was all just in my head, that running is so simple and to just not think about it.  So that’s what I did! And it felt great.  I’m planning on running an 8k in December so my goal is to add a mile every week or so, that way I can be ready to run 5 miles!

I have a major problem….I like to buy really cute plates, bowls, utensils, etc. when I really don’t need them. But who could resist this adorable fox plate??!! I found it at Walmart and just couldn’t say no. Too stinking cute.

And then I made some pumpkin protein pancakes for breakfast which went great with my new plate so it all worked out 🙂

Alright that’s all I have for now! I’m off to study some more for my final test this week.  I’m hoping to go to our campus farmers market after my test too because the class I usually have during it is cancelled for today so I’m hoping to find some good stuff there!

Have a great weekend!

Hiya! Boy do I have an embarrassing story to share today.  Let’s backtrack to last Saturday shall we? See my mother and I used to take this amazing, like the best workout class ever, bootcamp every Saturday morning. Unfortunately our instructor had to cut the Saturday morning class and now we just have it on Wednesdays.

So, last Saturday, my Dad had left to go to some rock festival that he had a ticket for and I was just sort of laying on the couch with my dog Copper trying to get motivated to do some sort of workout.  I had only been home a few days but I had already missed running on the treadmill like I do almost every day while at school.  Since I don’t have a treadmill I decided to go for a quick 30 minute run outside since it was a gorgeous day anyways!

I got dressed, had my polar watch on ready to go, and had my phone in hand ready to listen to some tunes while I go for my jog.  Here’s where it went downhill…I guess I was a little too eager to get back to running therefore I didn’t really warmup at all.  I kind of just left my driveway, walked a few paces, then took off.  Well…. not even a quarter, maybe a third, of a mile did my right leg pretty much give out-causing me to tumble to the asphalt and fall pretty badly.  I think I might have rolled a bit- I’m not really sure.  I do know the only thing that went through my mind was to save my iPhone that I had in my hand! haha I mean really, even though it’s replaceable, I don’t have the money to buy a new one right now!

Anyways, after I ate the pavement, I quickly got up, obviously very embarrassed and limped back to my house. I was literally like 50 feet from my backyard so it wasn’t too far. I think one of my neighbors might have seen because I heard someone yell something but I’m not sure if it was at me-plus I was too mortified to look back 😛

Once I got inside I assessed the damage I’d done and it was prettyyyy bad. Caution!!! If you don’t like blood scroll past this first picture!

Yeah- pretty gross huh? I also had scrapes along my other leg and elbow and was bleeding slightly in a few other spots.  So mainly my right knee took the worst of it.  I came close to crying after it happened, but I actually just started laughing because I thought wow, it would figure this would happen to me! And plus I had a cool picture to show off my wound too. haha It’s actually just now starting to heal but it’s still really sore and still turning a whole bunch of lovely colors right now 🙂 Moral of the story? Warm up before you run if you haven’t in a few days!!!  I definitely plan to run outside again soon though- maybe I’ll wear kneepads though…..kidding!

The next day was much better however as I went shopping with my mother at the outlets.  We had a great day shopping and found some good deals.  Reebok had their shorts 2 for $30 which was a pretty awesome find.  These shorts are SO comfy! The blue pair has fabric that’s so soft and buttery feeling.

sorry it’s sideways!

We also stopped by Home Depot and looked at all the pretty spring flowers!

Another awesome thing this week was that I had my first success with overnight oats in a jar!  I’ve tried overnight oats so many times but never had any luck-they were always too bland tasting and I also didn’t really like cold oats either.  Well I saved a bunch of my peanut butter jars from school to experiment with when I got home and this one was great! I put about 1/3 cup old fashioned oats, 1/3 cup skim milk, maybe like 2 tbs vanilla greek yogurt, 1 tbs chia seeds, 1 tbs flax seed, and about 1 tbs agave, oh and some cinnamon too!

In the morning I heated them up however since I don’t like them cold.  Which, even though they are better warm, I was wondering if heating them up in the plastic jar was such a good idea with BPA stuff in plastic and all :/ Anyone know if that’s really bad to do? And also next time I make ooiaj I’ll probably skip the greek yogurt too if I can because it gave the oats a slight tart/sour taste that I was not a fan of.

But other than that they were great! After heating them up I sliced up some banana and stirred those in and topped it with a bit of granola too.  These kept me much fuller than my regular oatmeal I usually make!

picture taken after I had devoured the oats 😉

Hope you all have a great Mother’s Day weekend!
